February 27th, Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary welcommed in Riyadh

This is really something I have been looking forward to despite all the fuss about the trip. An official state visit is exciting news. It is also a great opportunity for us to see the couple together. Because of all the bad talking prior to the visit, it's my intention to keep this as any other state visit. Dons't mean that I don't care -I do. But this is really the only comment I'll make in that case. Thanks.
The royal couple arrived to Riyadh a day before the official visit begin. Riyadh is the capital of Saudi Arabia and is, as far as you can come from Denmark. Despite many speculations, the Crown Prince couple were welcomed important figures from Saudi Arabia. As I told you in the beginning, the couple are traveling with a business delegation of 44 Danish companies and three Danish Governmental representatives, who also this "pre-welcoming-ceremony". The official welcoming ceremony takes place on February 28th.

When the news came that the couple would visit Saudi Arabia and Qatar, many of you asked the very same question: how will Mary handle the situation choosing the most appropriate clothes? Well, of course as perfect as usual. Mary is always appropriately dressed -no matter where she is and who she is meeting with. To me it was clear that she would likely wear longer dresses and skirts. Now two days later it's finally time for me to tell you about what she actually chose to wear. Matching large white chairs with the golden details, Mary wore a beautiful Etro coat featuring colourful flowers. This is the third time we can admire her in this incredible coat -first in 2014 when she attended the event School for 200 years, here, and then on an official visit to South Africa the same year, here. She embraced colours on the coat with a fabulous silk scarf. I see some jewelleries as well, but I have a hard time identifying them. Think one piece is from Georg Jensen. My guess is that she wore black pumps. She also flashed her beige Prada bag.

February 28th: Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary visiting Al Diriyah

This visit to Al Diriyah was not part of the royal couples official calendar and it has been almost impossible for me to find anything from the visit -except a few photos. All I found is in arabic and I really can't read arabic. But if you do and you know a little more of what happened, I would really like to hear from you. Or if any of you, who also do not speak arabic, have found any useful information's I hope you will share it with me. The Crown Prince couple were closely followed around the city by a group of people, who told about the city project. I think the sand-coloured building's located in the desert gives the city a very special atmosphere. It's clear they were not wondering around the streets of Copenhagen. The Crown Princess was, more than once, seen in close dialogue about the project while her husband just seemed to enjoy the buildings.

Black absorb most heath of all colour. So covered all in black, in the middle of the sun I guess it was a very warm experiences for her. Though Mary is use to the sun from her life in Australia. Personally, I would not be able to breath.. When visiting Riayad along with her husband, her legs were covered in long black trousers. I am pretty sure it is not going to be the last time we get to see these. Hugging her upper body, she was dressed in a black coat that reminds me so much of her Prada coat. I can't tell for sure. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden owns a similar coat from By Malene Birger, so this is also a possibility. It features a rather wide neckline and a single button at front. Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses protected her eyes from the Arabian sun. The pink scarf was also a part of the accessory. I guess it is the one worn in Morocco a couple of years ago, here. After a closer look, I realized that Mary had chosen her Chanel ballet flats for the walk.

Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary visiting the Saudi Arabian Royal Family

The first official event, according to their calendar is also the official welcoming to Saudi Arabia. Despite the location was different than they are use to, they both seemed calm and acted all normal. The welcoming ceremony was hosted by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Nayef. Large part of the Saudi Arabian royal family attended the overwhelmingly ceremony such as Arabian business people, ministers, etc. Many more attended than expected and it took the royal couple long to greet them all. The Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Jensen was also present a the ceremony. He later told the press how impressive the welcoming was and how many actually came to greet the royal couple.

Mary was simply beautifully dressed at the welcoming ceremony. The funny thing is that the first I noticed was her hairstyle. It so much reminds me of hairdo's she often wore at the time when Prince Christian was born. Really there is nothing special about it. Maybe that is what makes it so great. Because Mary manages to add her own glamour and elegance to a simple hairstyle like this. Second, I noticed that new purple silk dress she was wearing. To me it looks like she wears black trousers underneath, similar to her Vietnamese Si Hoang traditional dress, here. If you take a closer look at the dress you will realize it features a beaded hemline around the neck and sleeves. I really adore this detail. Makes the dress even more amazing. And of course there is the colour -a magnificent purple colour that suits her beautifully. I sense you like it pretty much as well. She covered the dress with a goody from Prada, worn during several other state visits. I managed to find it couple of years ago on Ebay. Mary embraced the style with black Gianvito Rossi pumps, her favourite clutch from Carlend Copenhagen and yet another pink silk scarf with white roses. The round diamond earrings and brooch both reflected the lights of the cameras.

After the family's vacation in December, we haven't really seen that much of her. Before the vacation we shared her experiences almost every day. That seems quite some time ago now. Usually, the Crown Prince family is also going skiing in Verbiér around this time a year, but it is not the case this year. No official messages have been given, so I can't tell for sure what's the reason. I guess it is because they just arrived home from a whole month abroad.

But now the Crown Princess is back at work. She attended the presentation of the Elite Research Conference as guest of honor. She was also present to hand over awards to some of the most talented scientists in Denmark, who have contributed in an unrivaled way with their research. It was around noon when she arrived to Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in the center of Copenhagen. The Crown Princess was in an excellent mood. She was welcomed by Minister of Research Esben Lunde Larsen, who also accompanied her on stage later on. Speeches were given and recent research results were presented, closely followed by everyone in the room including the Crown Princess.
The winners of the Elite Research Award 2016 are -David Dreyer Lassen (Professor of political economy at the Department of Economics at the University of Copenhagen), Peter Lodahl (Professor of physics at the Niels Bohr Institute at Copenhagen University), Liv Hornekær (Associate professor of physics at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Aarhus University), Petar Popovski (Professor of communications at the Department of Electronic Systems at Aalborg University) and Mette Rams Thomsen (Professor of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation). Congratulations to all of them with the prestigious award. Each of the five award winners are also given DKK 1,2 million. DKK 200,000 is a personal reward; the rest goes to reserach activities.

For this event I had not idea what to expect of her look. Previous years she has worn darker colours because of the rather cold weather. Last year she appeared in a black leather dress, so this year she could be wearing anything really, here. No leather dress this time. Instead Mary dazzled in her navy blue Elise Gug (Collection: Autumn/Winter 2014) suit. It is around two years since she wore the suit last. It was when she attended the Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Girls for Sustainable Development in the ECE Region in Geneva, here. Mary embraced a chic style with stunning golden jewellery from Marianne Dulong, Georg Jensen and Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen -three incredible Danish designers. To mention one of the pieces, then the brooch is rather interesting. Worn on a couple of occasions before, for instance in Australis in 2011, here, it has never really been identified for sure. It's told to be from Marianne Dulong. At the arrival she showed of a brand new scarf, in almost the exact same colour as her suit, featuring large black dots and tassels. Not yet found I hope to get your help with this one. I see a label, but can't read what it says. Looks similar to another scarf of hers. With help from Kate, I am able to share that Mary stunned in new Gianvito Rossi pumps. Simply elegant design. Just like the pumps, she had chosen a natural coloured clutch from Naledi Copenhagen. This model is a bit bigger in size than the one she usually wears.

One of the biggest fundraising projects we have in Denmark is Danmarks Indsamling. The Crown Prince couple showed their support by attending the show taking place in the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen. The show was broadcasted live on Saturday and lasted about five hours. For several years the couple has shown their support, both by being present and giving money to the fundraising. Queen Margrethe, Prince Henrik and the Crown Prince couple gave in total DKK 750,000 (approx. $125.000).

The royal couple arrived at the Tivoli Concert Hall shortly before the show was about to begin. Both of them were in a great mood. Among the rest of the audience the couple seemed to enjoyed the show. Many different artists were invited to entertained. Then during the show, people could call and donate money for the good cause. Celebrities took people's calls. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess greeted many of them and they shared people's stories. Crown Prince Frederik even took a few calls himself, while the Crown Princess met her dear friend Caroline Fleming. After four hours, nearly DKK 98,000,000 (approx. $16.270.250) were gathered.

Black is back. So is Mary. She dazzled in figure-hugging black suit, worn at a precious occasion. It was when she attended DR Ultra Gala's show It's Nice to be Nice, here, in Sønderborg. At that time Mary also embrace a chic outfit by wearing a black lace blouse from Julie Fagerholt Heartmade. Love how it turns out -a beautiful combination of a masculine black suit and that sensual lace blouse. What a stunning match. Not much has changed this time. Actually, I think the only thing that has changed is her hairstyle. Do you see anything else? The light caught her diamond earrings and Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen rings just beautifully. Carlend Copenhagen is the designer of her incredible black croco clutch worn on numerous occasions. Looks great each time we see it. Same goes with the black cap-toe pumps from Gianvito Rossi. What I like so much about his designs, is the shape. The shape is simply characteristic, recognisable and outstanding. A really nice outfit.

The Cancer Society's Honorary Award 2016

Tuesday, February 4th

Crown Princess Mary attended the presentation of the Cancer Society's Honorary Award 2016 in Skuespilhuset in Copenhagen, on occasion of World Cancer Day.

Earlier in the morning the Crown Princess participated a conference on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Humanitarian Crises at Christiansborg Castle where she gave the opening speech, here. It was a speech which caused quite a stir among the other participants.

In the afternoon she attended the presentation of the Cancer Society's Honorary Award 2016. It is the fourth time she has the pleasure to hand over the award on occasion of World Cancer Day. It took place in Skuespilhuset in Copenhagen. She arrived in an excellent mood with a big smile on her face. She was differently on top of the game. The Crown Princess acted all calm. I think it was a great honor for her to, once again, to present the honorary award. She was clearly moved when entering the stage. Also when she presented the ward to Nurse and youth coordinator Maiken Hjerming. Maiken Hjerming has been nominated by five young cancer patients to receive the award this year. She has helped to launch Kræftværket, which is a hospital ward for young cancer patients aged 15-29. She has several years of experience in how solitude often can be a part of cancer patients life. With the award of DKK 50,000 the Cancer Society want to highlight the special efforts and outstanding example to inspire others to give cancer patients optimal treatment and care, here.

Now we are talking. Mary wore a brand new figure-hugging dress. Shortly after the first pictures were published I received ideas about who could be the designer and the fact that two other royals had worn a similar dress at previous events. Mary was wearing a similar dress as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, on her engagement day, here. Also Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg has been seen in the same dress. This new blue dress is from Issa. I learned about its identity from Lurdes and Kate. Looks just great on her. A perfect dress for any time a day because of the colour and rather simple style. Mary added a pair of Gianvito Rossi pumps and Prada clutch in a matching colour. Both of these accessories were worn at a birthday party at Tranekær castle on August 8th 2015, here. At the arrival she wore her grey JOSEPH coat as a cape. Lately, she has chosen longer coats and worn them in new ways. She accessorized the outfit with white gold rings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen and Marianne Dulong earrings featuring a blue drop-shaped pendant. As with the rest of the outfit, her hair and makeup were flawless -a chignon and red berry lips. What's not to love?

Conference at Christiansborg

Tuesday, February 4th

Crown Princess Mary participated a conference on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Humanitarian Crises at Christiansborg in Copenhagen.

Kongehuset.dk

For several years the Crown Princess has committed herself to fight for girls and women's rights and well-being. She had attended countless international- and national conferences, visited countries all around the world listening to stories from those who are closest to the issues. She has also acted keynote speaker at several different conferences worldwide an despite her royal status (where she is not allowed to talk politics in public), she has managed to generate only positive attention to the subject. This time the Crown Princess participated a conference on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Humanitarian Crises at Christiansborg in Copenhagen. She arrived in the afternoon where she was welcomed by Deputy Secretary General in Sex og Samfund Tania Dethlefsen. When the Crown Princess gave the opening speech, she had everyone's attention. Read it here. Story goes that the Crown Princess is not just the only one who want to participate. Waiting lists are created for member who would also like to have attended the conference -which by the way is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Parliamentary All-Party Network for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Sex og Samfund.

Mary was beautifully dressed when she participated the conference on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Humanitarian Crises at Christiansborg. Everything was perfectly suitable for the occasion. Unfortunately, not that many pictures have been published. I happened to find a short clip that gives me an idea of what she was wearing. She dazzled in a black blazer and a white blouse featuring a collar. Have we seen that before? -it reminds me a lot of a new Hugo Boss blouse worn on February 2nd when she received a donation to the Maternity Foundation from Inner Wheel, here. Both blouses features a similar collar. Let me know what you think. The black and white printed pencil skirt is by no doubt a Hugo Boss design. Mary embraced the style with white pearl ring from Marianne Dulong and a pair of earrings we have seen multiple times before from same designer. I caught a glimpse of her shoes and I believe she wore the SAND Copenhagen pumps.

Copenhagen Fashion Week 2016

Crown Princess Mary attended the opening of Copenhagen Fashion Week 2016 at Copenhagen City Hall.

Time for a more detailed post from when the Crown Princess attended Copenhagen Fashion Week 2016 taking place at Copenhagen City Hall. I am all excited about her presents at the fashion week. A couple of years she did not attend, but this year she was. Makes it a little more special and glamourous. The Crown Princess arrived with a great smile on her face and in a splendid mood along with her dear friend Ellen Hillingsø. The fashion week is where the Danish designers show what they have been working on for a whole year. Designers like Baum und Pferdgarten, By Malene Birger and Second Female presented their newest collection on special designed runway going all the way through the city. This year the Crown Princess was present at Tonsure's fashion show, which Countess Alexandra also attended. Unfortunately, I am not sure if they met. They probably did. After the Tonsure show, the Crown Princess attended another show by Jesper Høvring at the prestigious Hotel d'Angleterre. Before leaving she found time to greet the designer with his collection.

I am sure we all noticed Mary's outfit as the first thing when she arrived -everything else would be a little odd, right? She really stunned me with her outfit. Think I am in love. Unbelievably how she always manages to look this good. Have a feeling that you love her new coat as much as I do. A rather coat for her but with heels it doesn't matter at all. Often she wears different Danish designers at the fashion week, which is also the case this time. Kate was able to find her new blue coat at Fonnesbech (Collection: A2 collection), who also participated the event. Kate was a step ahead of me, because I had the same feeling that her coat could be a Fonnesbech design. It is described to be a combination of femininity and power. Matched perfectly with the blue leather Quidam clutch. First glimpse of the rest of her outfit, made me fall in love even more. That wonderful ruffle blouse and new trousers. I manages to identify her blouse as DAY Birger et Mikkelsen and Jennifer found her trousers at Julie Fagerholt Heartmade (Collection: Winter Holiday 2015). Mary accessorized her fabulous outfit with new Jewlscph earrings as Mai Manniche (Jewlscph's designer) proudly commented in a blog post, here, a golden Georg Jensen bracelet and her customized gold ring from Marianne DulongThe golden ring and red nail polish are a great match. Many brands make similar colours of nail polish and you probably already have your very own favourite red nail polish. Last, but not least she wore leopard pumps from Gianvito Rossi. I fell almost humble getting the chance to comment on such as beautiful look.

A donation to the Maternity Foundation

Tuesday, February 2nd

Crown Princess Mary received a donation from Inner Wheel, here, to the Maternity Foundationhere, because of her patronage. It took place at Frederik VIII's Palace, Amalienborg.

Kongehuset.dk
Billedbladet.dk

Since 2010 the Crown Princess has been patron of the Maternity Foundation -a Danish developed organization with the vision "no women should die giving life". With this strong vision, it's clear how the foundation want to try to change the world. It was a very smily Crown Princess, who greeted CEO of the Maternity Foundation Anna Frellsen, former international CEO of Inner Wheel Suzanne Nielsen and Convention Coordinator at Inner Wheel Benedicte Haubro for the donation. As patron, she received a donation from Inner Wheel on DKK 100,000 to support the work of the Maternity Foundation. I am in no doubt when I say, I believe the Crown Princess was very honored to receive the donation and of course to represent the Maternity Foundation on a big day like this.

Her smily face must have been the first thing everyone noticed when entering the room at Amalienborg. Shiny as her smile is the blouse she was wearing. I can't really tell what colour it is -champagne, golden or rose gold? Nevertheless, it perfectly matched her stunning makeup. With help from Kate the blouse has been identified as Hugo Boss (Collection: HUGO by Hugo Boss) and not JOSEPH as I first thought. I am wrong too. She beautifully matched it with a brand new black skirt, also identified as Hugo Boss (Collection: BOSS by Hugo Boss). I really hope we are going to see her wear that skirt again. She embraced the style by wearing earrings from Figaros Bryllup and a golden Georg Jensen bracelet. Seems to be her favourite right now, such as wearing red nail polish. Love how her outfit turned out. Just so polished and chic. Unfortunately, we did not get a picture that shows any shoes. I think she could wear pumps in nude, beige or possibly black. I go with black. What do you say? Do you also wanna see this outfit again some day?

With 'Værket' in Slagelse

Monday, February 1st

Crown Princess Mary attended the networking group session with Værket, herein Slagelse.

Billedbladet.dk
Dailymail.co.uk

It was a warmhearted and smiling Crown Princess, who arrived to Slagelse yesterday, to see for herself how the new project Værket of the Mary Foundation and Danish Red Cross is working. She was warmly welcomed at the arrival by CEO of Danish Red Cross Hanne Line Jakobsen. Along with the CEO of Danish Red Cross and the rest of the networking group, the Crown Princess participated in several activities. These were great entertainment for all of them. I believe they all had a wonderful time together including the Crown Princess.
Værket offer group session's for adults, who feel social isolated or live in solitude. Studies have shown that more and more Danes live a life in solitude and feel socially isolated. As Chairwoman of the Mary Foundation, the Crown Princess has made it her life's work to try to make a difference -help those who need it. Both the Mary Foundation and Danish Red Cross have experience with what solitude and social isolation can do to people, especially those who have no one to turn to. The project helps strengthen relationship's and rebuild self-esteem. Solitude is hard to talk about, but talking about the problems have been proven to make things better. In the 90s the Crown Princess lost her beloved mother and experienced the feeling of solitude for a short time. She used her own experience to express sympathy.

Mary was dressed in a cozy beige coat when she arrived to Slagelse to attend a meeting with the networking group Værket. Since the beginning of 2016 I think we have seen a very mature and modern dressed Crown Princess. A classy look with a splash of colours. After having seen the first pictures from her appearance on Monday, I am sure this new beige coat is a By Malene Birger design. I corresponded with Kate and she confirmed my ideas. The double breasted coat, very similar to the one Princess Marie wore at the opening of the parliament in 2011, is from By Malene Birger and features black buttons and a rather large collar. To match the new coat, Mary wore a brand new burgundy blouse that has a certain 70's vibe, because of the A-shape and light material. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to identify it. It reminds me a lot of the asymmetric Alexander McQueen skirt she wore here. She chose a pair of trousers with slim legs to match the blouse. Mary accessorized her outfit with several jewelleries from Ole Lynggaard Copenhage and, believe it or not, a pair of really old golden earrings from Pureheart. She's also wearing her golden Georg Jensen bracelet. In a lovely caramel colour she added her Ralph Lauren bag and grey suede ankle boots from Gianvito Rossi. I really think her outfit is inspiring. The way of mixing a burgundy blouse and the slim trousers is so pretty. Do you think we will see more of this "modern edgy style" in the future? I hope so.
